Jennifer Walker
Jennifer Walker is the current Principal at Leviton Dual Language School. She has worked in education for over 25 years, the last 25 in the Providence Public School District (PPSD).
Prior to coming to PPSD, Jennifer spent four years living in the Dominican Republic as a Peace Corps volunteer and then as an ESL teacher. Upon returning to Providence, she worked as a Kindergarten teacher at Alfred Lima Elementary School, then moved over to the Lima Annex (now Leviton Dual Language School) and became the first grade bilingual/dual language teacher. She remained in the classroom until 2013 until she transitioned into the role of Dual Language Literacy Coach. Jennifer was then appointed to Principal of Leviton Dual Language School at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, and is entering her third year as Principal.
Jennifer received her Bachelor's in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. She later earned her Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island.
Jennifer is a product of the Providence Public School system and continues to reside in the city. She has dedicated her entire career to Providence's Spanish-speaking student population and is deeply passionate about equity in urban education and fostering bilingualism, biliteracy, and cultural pride in her students and their families. Her vision for Leviton Dual Language School is empowering students to become bilingual and biliterate critical thinkers and leaders in our community.
