Nestor Puello is an Assistant Principal at Newcomer Academy. This is his second year as assistant principal. He worked as a CTE teacher at Central High School where he started the firefighter program. A Providence Public Schools' graduate, Nestor is a graduate of Providence College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received a Juris Doctorate and a Master's in Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts.

His vision for the Newcomer Academy is to provide opportunities and access for students that traditionally are not widely available due to their age and circumstances. Puello recognizes that many PPSD students have encountered, by no fault of their own, dangerous and traumatic experiences in an effort to survive and help improve themselves and their families. "I believe that our school will honor and harness the collective talent that our SIFE students bring to enable them to change the trajectory of their lives for the better," said Puello.
